EEB Bachelor of Science (B.S)

Welcome undergraduates! The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) program is is designed for students interested in plants, animals, microorganisms, biological diversity, the environment, ecosystems, evolution, and more. The EEB B.S. degree prepares students for advanced degrees or careers in such fields as:
- environmental consulting
- natural resource and land management
- ecological and habitat restoration
- biodiversity assessment and monitoring
- conservation
- science communication
- wildlife management
- environmental education and outreach
- scientific research
There are 15 biology faculty conducting cutting edge research in ecology and evolution at UTEP. This degree program was created to capitalize on this diverse research experience, as well as the faculty’s ability to teach broad topics at the lower division level, and more specialized upper division courses. Our degree plan provides a variety of courses that will prepare you for one of the fastest-growing job sectors in the US, concerned with understanding and addressing environmental changes associated with human impacts on natural resources. In the short term, training in EEB will prepare you to be qualified applicants for internships and undergraduate research positions such as the National Science Foundation's (REU) program, and, after graduation, to fill jobs as educators, environmental consultants and agency scientists, among others. The degree is also a gateway to advanced degrees such as master’s and doctoral programs in EEB, biology, conservation biology, and others.
